Had to drive in to work today with all the insane commuters. (Long story, involving a missing DART pass.) At a street corner, I waited to turn right while a pedestrian moseyed across the street. She had the right-of-way. None of this was apparent to the guy behind me, who leaned on his horn like he was a New York cabbie.
Drivers have little respect for pedestrians crossing the street in this town, even when the walkers are in the right place. I've seen cars whip around right in front of people trying to get through the crosswalk. There is no tolerance for the bipeds.

Found your blog by googling our group (the Oak Cliff Transit Authority). Glad to hear you're able to traverse the town with DART alone. I, unfortunately, now have a job that requires me to be at multiple client sites, so I'm unable to use the rail/bus option anymore, but I spent at least two years doing the same thing, from the Hampton station, to downtown, where I picked up a bus to work at Addison Circle. I read a ton of books during that time.
we're currently trying to work out a comprehensive biking/walking/trolley plan for the OC. We have a lot to unroll out to the public very soon!
